The L Project 'Charity Shop' contains different types of products/services:
1. Official Project Merchandise
These will be products created by us, such as the single "It Does Get Better." Any money needed to create these products (which we endeavour to keep the cost as minimal as possible and will never included any artists 'time') will be sourced through sponsorship prior to sale to ensure all proceeds go to the chosen charities. Each project product will have specific charities attached to it, and in the charity shop it will be clear who they are and what proportion of sales will be donated where.
2. Official Supporting Merchandise
This area will include items such as: T-Shirts, Postcards, Bumper Stickers and Buttons, as well as other merchandise that carries our logo, or any of our project related artwork. The aim with this merchandise is to raise awareness of The L Project and it's anti-bullying campaigns, or one of the projects within the campaign, while raising even more money for the charities we support. Because we are not manufacturers we will work with other companies to produce these items. The proportion of the retail price that will be coming via The L Project to be passed on to our related charities will be clearly indicated by a percentage (not including postage). Each product will also clearly have where that money is being donated to - these will always be charities of our choice, even if they vary per product.
If you are a retailer, and would like to contribute with a competitive rate on any products you think we could sell, please get in touch.
3. Project Sponsoring Merchandise
This is merchandise that a third party has brought to us, saying they would like to donate a minimum of 10% (or £1, whichever is higher) of their retail price directly to The L Project. The product itself may not be related in any way to The L Project, but the retailer wishes to sponsor us through this method.
This is ideal for retailers who cannot afford to officially sponsor us with a sum of money, but would still like to help. This sponsor money is what The L Project uses to fund the Official Project products, just as regular sponsor money would. It will also be used to help promote whatever the current project is, by way of printing posters and flyers that we can distribute at official events that we attend, such as the pride events that we perform at.
4. Endorsed Merchandise
This is similar to the Project Sponsoring Merchandise except that instead of the money coming the The L Project as sponsor money, the retailer can specify which campaign they would like their product to be associated with - ie if the retailer said they wished their product to be a part of the "It Does Get Better" song campaign, then the percentage they donated per sale would be added to that campaign pot and therefore added to the total that would be donated to its specified related charities. Again, the percentage and the charities will be clearly labelled on each product.
5. 'Projecteer' Fundraising
This is where a member of our page wants to raise money for us by auctioning something, or doing a charity deed like a fun run, or something similar.
What is a 'Projecteer'? You are a projecteer, if you are a fan of our aims and objectives, and want to help in any way you can.
Why are we expanding the product range to third party retailers? Because we realised that there are lots of products our community might be interested in, and if they could buy what they wanted anyway, and donate at the same time, then we all win!
What third party products or services might be included? Anything that is not offensive, provided the retailer will agree to a minimum of £1 or 10% of the retail price being donated.
When will the Charity Shop be available? As soon as Sofia has finished the new website!
Will The L Project be taking payments directly? No. Just as with the single we will use external specialised distributors and retailers that you will buy directly from. All we will do is provide the information and the links to the products.
